Hemodialysis

Hemodialysis is a renal replacement therapy where blood is removed from the body and filtered through a man-made filter called a dialyzer utilizing a machine. There are three types of hemodialysis.

Three Types of Hemodialysis

1. Hemodialysis

Typically done three times a week in a dialysis center, each session lasting about 3-4 hours

2. Nocturnal Hemodialysis

This treatment takes 6 to 8 hours and occurs
while the patient is sleeping.

3. NxStage®

If you and your doctor decide you can perform NxStage® at home alone, you will first need a prescription for the therapy, a NxStage® system, dialysis treatment supplies, ancillary treatment supplies, and additional training to perform treatments alone.
